January 26th, 2014 - Garrett Alberson Scores Pair of Top Tens at El Paso
1The inaugural Battle at the Border opened on Friday night with a $3,000-to-win, NDRL event at El Paso Speedway Park (El Paso, Texas). With 24 entries in the pits Garrett finished 3rd in his heat race to lock into the 8th starting spot for the 30 lap feature.

Things got off to a rocky start in the finale as Alberson slipped off the backstretch early in the event, which resulted in him slipping back as far as the 15th position. Despite his early-race, ill luck Alberson rebounded to charge through the field to a 6th place finish behind race winner, John Blankenship, Billy Moyer, Mason Zeigler, A.J. Diemel, and Tim Fuller.

Saturday night found the winner's purse increased to $5,000-to-win, and Garrett raced to a 3rd place finish in his heat race to lock into the 9th starting spot for the 40 lap finale. Alberson raced in the top ten throughout the feature before registering a 10th place finish.

Garrett entered the final night of the miniseries on Sunday night at the facility as another $5,000-to-win purse was posted. Alberson found himself finishing in 3rd for the second straight night as he started 7th in the 40 lap finale. On a track where racing became increasingnly difficult during the course of the feature Garrett ended his outing with a 9th place finish.

January 19th, 2014 - Competition Continues for Alberson at Tucson
1The 2nd Annual Winter Extreme resumed at Tucson International Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) on Friday night with a $3,000-to-win event at the 3/8 mile oval. With 56 entries on hand Garrett started his night by qualifying 3rd fastest in his group before advancing to a 2nd place finish, which locked him into the 8th starting spot for the 30 lap finale. During the course of the feature Alberson battled in the top ten before crossing the finish line with a strong 9th place finish.

Saturday night found the winner's check increased to $5,000 as 56 cars again registered for battle. Alberson qualified 4th fastest in his group and would go on to finish 4th in his heat race. With only the top three finishers transferring to the feature Garrett would be relegated to a b-main. In the b-main Alberson ran in a transfer spot for the first half of the event before a flat tire in the closing laps forced him pitside as his night came to an early end.

The six race series came to an end on Sunday evening with a $10,000-to-win race that saw 52 competitors registering for battle. Garrett struggled in qualifying, which left him starting 7th in his heat race. Despite the poor starting spot he advanced to a 4th place finish, which left him short of transferring to the feature, but positioned him on the front row of a b-main. He went on to win the b-main to lock into the 21st starting spot for the feature. During the race's early stages Garrett advanced several spots before bad luck struck just before the halfway mark, when he was collected by a slower car. As a result he retired to a 19th place finish.

January 15th, 2014 - Alberson Competes in 2nd Annual Winter Extreme
1Garrett Alberson opened his 2014 season on Saturday in his #43 Deetz Racing/Batteries Plus Bulbs/Mastersbilt/Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model at Tucson International Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) with the opening round of the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme.

Fifty-seven Super Late Models entered the $3,000-to-win event, and via time trials and the invert Alberson started 4th in his heat race. A 4th place finish in the heat left him just short of locking into the feature, and as a result he was forced to run a b-main, where he finished 2nd to earn the 22nd starting spot for the 30 lap finale. He would go on to advance to a 17th place finish.

On Sunday evening the winner's check was increased to $5,000 as 54 entries registered for action. Garrett qualified 2nd fastest in his group, and with an invert of four in place he started 3rd. Unfortunately track conditions did not allow for passing, and Alberson would finish in the 4th position, which sent him to a b-main. He would finish 2nd in the b-main to lock into the 24th starting spot for the 40 lap finale. Despite passing continuing to be difficult Alberson advanced seven spots to a 17th place finish.

Wednesday found the team returning to action in round #3 of the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme, and Alberson chased the setup for the duration of the night before falling short of qualifying for the feature as he missed his first week of the miniseries.
