June 7th, 2014 - Garrett Alberson Fights for a Pair of Runner-Up Finishes
1Garrett Alberson returned to the driver's seat over the weekend with a pair of Championship Dirt Motorsports (CDM) Super Late Model Series events.

Action kicked off on Friday night as the tour visited El Paso Speedway Park (El Paso, Texas). Sixteen entries registered for the $1,200-to-win program, and Garrett drew the fifth starting spot for his heat race. He charged to the heat race win, earning him the pole position for the feature with Rick Ortega alongside. When the race went green Alberson to the lead over Ortega while third starting Ricky Thornton Jr. moved into second. The duo swapped the lead multiple time throughout the event, but it was Thornton Jr. out front when the checkered flag waved as Alberson settled in second. Rick Ortega, Billy Roy Harris, and Scott Logston rounded out the top five finishers.

Saturday night found the team pitted at their home track of Southern New Mexico Speedway (Las Cruces, New Mexico). Another $1,200 top prize on the line as seventeen Super Late Model registered for the chase. A second place finish in heat race action locked Garrett into the third starting spot for the main event. Much like the night before, Alberson battle with Ricky Thornton Jr. for the top spot. Thornton Jr. led early on in the race before Alberson was able to get by on the high side. A slight mishap by Alberson entering turn one would give Thornton Jr. the opportunity he needed to slip by and drive to the victory. Alberson finished second followed by Billy Roy Harris, Dana Fite, and Sherman Barnett.
