11th-place finish in Dairyland Showdown opener

With Mother Nature wiping out the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) doubleheader weekend, Garrett Alberson and the Roberts Motorsports team headed north to Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wis.) for the second annual Dairyland Showdown. (Tim Hunt photo)

Drawing 38 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series entries for the three-day event, Alberson followed up a fifth-place finish in his heat with a 10-lap consolation victory. Coming one spot shy of a top-10 finish in the feature, Garrett gained seven positions to finish 11th.

On Friday, Garrett edged his way into the $10,000-to-win preliminary feature with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. Improving two positions in the 40-lap affair, Alberson recorded a 12th-place finish.

For the Dairyland Showdown finale on Saturday, Alberson came in fifth in his heat before placing second in his B-Main. Starting the $50,000-to-win A-Main in 20th, Garrett had wheeled his way into the top-10 early but started losing ground over late-race restarts. He eventually retired early with 14 circuits remaining.
