Alberson lands on podium twice in Lucas Oil weekend at Georgetown and Port Royal
After nearly a month off with the series, Garrett Alberson returned to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series action on Friday afternoon at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway for the $19,049-to-win Melvin L. Joseph Memorial.
With 40 Late Models registered for the evening, Garrett clocked in third-fastest in his qualifying group before finishing third in his heat race. Rolling off 10th in the 49-lap main event, Alberson quickly moved into the Top-5 and snuck onto the podium with a third-place outing. Garrett joined Ricky Thornton Jr. and Devin Moran in the Top-3.
Saturday's event at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway was cancelled due to rain.
Among another stout field of competition at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway on Sunday afternoon, Alberson began his charge in the heat race by going from third-to-first in just eight laps. With a $10,000 payday on the line, Garrett slipped to fifth in the beginning stages of the 40-lap feature but rallied to record his second third-place outing of the weekend. Alberson once again trailed race-winner Ricky Thornton Jr. while Mike Marlar filled in the runner-up slot.
Alberson is currently eighth in the LOLMDS point standings.
